Resources and Links for Educators
Advocates for Youth: an organization dedicated to creating programs and advocating for policies that help young people make informed and responsible decisions about their sexual well-being. In addition, Advocates for Youth creates programs for parents and educators. Their Website houses excellent resources for educators, including lesson plans and a National Center for Sexuality Educators. This clearinghouse provides educators with the option to order from numerous materials and resources. Additionally, the center provides technical assistance, training, and a speaker's bureau.

SIECUS: the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the U.S., is a national, non-profit organization that affirms sexuality as a natural and healthy part of living. Part of the site—the National School Health Education Clearinghouse—provides guidelines for comprehensive sexuality education, State mandates for sex education, evaluation and research results, sexuality education curricula, and additional links to resources.

Sexuality Education Gateway: designed to help teachers and educators find age-appropriate and comprehensive lesson plans and classroom-based activities pertaining to all aspects of sexuality education. All of the activities have been screened for educational value.

Education World: "The Educator's Best Friend" is a Website full of resources for all teachers. Resources include, but are not limited to: lessons plans, curriculum projects, grants for educators, newsletter subscriptions, and message boards.

Resource Center for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention: maintains a skills site for educators. Skills instructions include tips and advice for guiding positive dialogue about sexuality among teens—both large and small groups—and role playing. It also provides information for educators about their curricular options when abstinence education is mandated.

AVERT: a Website dedicated to AIDS and sex education. It houses health statistics, tips for talking to youth about sexuality, personal stories of individuals living with AIDS, information on types of sex education, best practices, lesson plans, quizzes, free resources, and more.

Population Reference Bureau (PRB): is an organization dedicated to providing timely and objective information on U.S. and international population trends and their implications. The PRB works with educators to improve the teaching of population and its implications in middle and high schools. The education program at the PRB provides teachers with everything from curriculum materials and teaching kits to lesson plans and resource guides.
